Description
This 1980 issue from Cyprus, Scott #545, features a beautifully detailed terracotta warrior bust, dating to the 6th–5th century B.C. The piece represents the island’s rich Archaic-period artistic tradition, when Cypriot sculptors blended Greek, Near Eastern, and local styles into a distinctive visual language.
The warrior’s serene expression, stylized hair, and finely rendered armor display the craftsmanship of ancient Cypriot artisans. The stamp presents the artifact against a clean, minimalist white background, with vertical ΚΥΠΡΟΣ • KIBRIS • CYPRUS inscriptions and clear archaeological attribution (“Warrior Terracotta, 6th–5th Cent. B.C.”) along the right margin.
Issued at 125 mils, this stamp is part of a wider series celebrating Cyprus’s archaeological treasures.
This example is Mint Never Hinged, with fresh gum, excellent centering, and strong color.
Ideal for collectors of ancient history, archaeology, Cyprus, classical art, and terracotta sculpture on stamps.
