Description
This attractive Cook Islands issue, Scott #502, celebrates the nation’s numismatic heritage with a beautifully printed design featuring the 1978 Cook Islands $5 coin.
The stamp depicts both sides of the coin:
-
Obverse: Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, dated 1978, with “COOK ISLANDS” legend.
-
Reverse: A finely engraved image of Cook Islands birdlife, including two perched native species, surrounded by the denomination “FIVE DOLLARS.”
These coin designs are set against a soft aqua background filled with bright, stylized tropical blossoms, creating a vivid contrast between metallic engraving and lush Pacific flora. The large “COOK ISLANDS $1” inscription at bottom underscores the postal denomination.
This example is Mint Never Hinged, post-office fresh with excellent color and gum.
A perfect addition to collections focused on Cook Islands, coins on stamps, numismatic thematics, Elizabeth II issues, or Pacific island philately.
