Cilicia – Scott # 119, hinged

Description

This is Cilicia Scott #119, part of the early O.M.F. (Occupation Militaire Française) overprinted issues used during the brief French administration of Armenian Cilicia following World War I (1919–1921).

The base stamp is the French 5c green “Semeuse” (Sower) design—one of France’s most iconic definitive types—overprinted:

• O.M.F.

• Cilicie

• 10 Paras (new surcharge value)

These surcharges were applied locally for postal use in Cilicia and exist in numerous denominations and varieties, many of which saw limited distribution due to the region’s short-lived postal system under French control.

This example is unused hinged, with a clear overprint, strong color, and sound perforations.
