Cilicia #103 (1920) – 20p on 10c Red, “O.M.F. Cilicie” Overprint on French Issue
Issued in 1920 under French occupation, this 20 piastres on 10 centimes red stamp was created by overprinting the French “Sower” (Semeuse) design with “O.M.F. Cilicie” (Occupation Militaire Française – Cilicia).
The graceful image of the Sower, symbolizing renewal and progress, contrasts with the utilitarian overprint used during the brief French administration of Cilicia following World War I. These overprinted French definitives were used for regular postal service throughout the occupied territory, and they remain among the most recognizable issues from this transitional era of Near Eastern philately.
