Description

This impressive commemorative from the Republic of China, Scott #776, was issued in 1946 to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Directorate General of Posts (1896–1946). Printed in rich violet-purple, the design highlights the modernization and global reach of China’s postal and transportation networks during the early 20th century.

The central vignette features:

• A steamship approaching from the left

• A steam locomotive advancing from the right

• Airplanes flying overhead

• A radiating globe in the background symbolizing worldwide communication

Framed with a traditional geometric border, the stamp reflects both national identity and technological progress. The denomination, 1000 yuan, appears in the upper left.
