Description

Ceylon – Scott #306 (1949 Universal Postal Union 75th Anniversary, Used)
Issued in 1949 to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), this 25-cent blue issue from Ceylon features a globe centered on the Eastern Hemisphere, symbolizing international communication and cooperation.

Beneath the globe are illustrations of the three great carriers of world mail — a sailing ship, steamship, and airplane — representing the evolution of postal transport through the ages. The clean, geometric layout and precise engraving are characteristic of the mid-century Commonwealth commemoratives printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co.

A sharp, well-centered used example with clear cancellation and deep blue color. Ideal for collectors of UPU issues or British colonial postal history.
