Description

Cameroon Scott #655 (1979) – Mint Never Hinged (MNH). Issued by the United Republic of Cameroon, this 60-franc stamp belongs to the “Animaux en voie de disparition” (Endangered Animals) series, highlighting Africa’s vulnerable wildlife species.

The design features a striking giraffe standing gracefully amid acacia trees on the African savanna, framed by a dry tree in the foreground and a soft blue sky in the distance. The inscription “GIRAFE – ANIMAUX EN VOIE DE DISPARITION” underscores Cameroon’s recognition of the need for wildlife preservation and ecological awareness during the late 1970s.

Printed in vivid color and fine detail, this issue reflects the collaboration of designer Lambert and engraver Cartor, whose work brought life and dignity to the continent’s most iconic animals. A beautiful and meaningful addition for collectors of African wildlife, endangered species, or Cameroonian philately.
