Description
Issued on December 14, 1955, the Cambodia Scott #59–61 set commemorates the nation’s historic admission to the United Nations. Each stamp features a portrait of King Norodom Sihanouk alongside a globe, the UN emblem, and the Cambodian flag—a symbolic celebration of Cambodia’s emergence onto the world stage as an independent nation.
The three stamps are beautifully engraved in distinct colors: 2 riels (green), 4.50 riels (blue), and 8.50 riels (red). The inscriptions appear in both Khmer and French, reading “LE CAMBODGE À L’ONU 14.12.55”—marking the date of Cambodia’s UN entry. Printed in Paris, these stamps reflect the refined design and craftsmanship characteristic of early post-independence Cambodian issues.
This set is Mint Never Hinged (MNH) and prized by collectors for its historic significance, attractive design, and connection to Cambodia’s first years as a recognized sovereign state. A standout addition for those specializing in Cambodia, Indochina, or United Nations philately.
