The 1984 Für die Jugend (“For the Youth”) series from Berlin features striking illustrations of European insects, rendered in naturalistic detail and bright colors. Each semi-postal stamp was issued to support youth welfare programs, continuing the Deutsche Bundespost Berlin’s tradition of combining art, nature, and philanthropy.


Design

Each stamp presents a different insect set against its natural floral environment:

  • 60+30 Pf: Burnet Moth (Zygaena carniolica) – a red-spotted moth on a blue cornflower.

  • 80+40 Pf: Bumblebee (Bombus terrestris) – gathering pollen from white clover.
