This complete 1920 “Allegory of Agriculture and Industry” series (Scott #238–246) marks the final definitive set issued by the Free State of Bavaria before the dissolution of its independent postal authority and full incorporation into the German Reichspost later that same year.

The nine stamps feature a muscular, heroic figure symbolizing labor, productivity, and renewal—a fitting image for postwar Bavaria recovering from the collapse of the monarchy and the economic turmoil that followed World War I. Designed in a bold expressionist style, the imagery reflects both Bavarian pride and the broader Weimar-era optimism for rebuilding.

Each value presents the same central figure in a different color and denomination, ranging from 5 Pfennig (green) to 75 Pfennig (violet). The stamps were printed typographically and issued both perforated and (rarely) imperforate.

This set is postally used, with full, legible cancels across all denominations—an excellent representative group for collectors of late Bavarian issues or early Weimar transition material.
