Description
Bavaria Scott #O10 (1916) — Used
This 10 Pfennig carmine Official stamp (Scott #O10) was issued in 1916 by the Kingdom of Bavaria for exclusive use on government correspondence. It belongs to the definitive Dienstmarke (Official) series featuring the royal Bavarian coat of arms, supported by two crowned lions and topped with the state’s heraldic crown — a proud emblem of Bavarian authority.
The Dienstmarke inscription at the top identifies it as an official service stamp, used by ministries, courts, and administrative offices during the later years of the monarchy. The issue reflects the formal and stately design typical of wartime Bavaria, maintaining a sense of regality even amidst the shifting political landscape of World War I.
This example is postally used, with a partial but legible circular cancel that leaves the design visible and well-centered.
