Bavaria – Scott # 94, used

Description

Bavaria – Scott #94 (1919) – 2 Pfennig Gray Blue, Used
Issued in 1919 during the final phase of Bavaria’s independent postal service, this 2 pfennig stamp portrays King Ludwig III, who had abdicated the throne just months earlier following the end of World War I and the collapse of the German monarchy.

The portrait, rendered in soft gray blue, reflects a somber and transitional moment in Bavarian history—between royal authority and republican governance. Printed by typography, this issue is part of the last definitive series bearing Ludwig III’s image before Bavaria’s postal administration was fully absorbed into the Weimar Republic.
