Description
Bavaria – Scott #81 (1911) – 25 Pfennig Dark Violet Brown, Used
Issued in 1911 to commemorate the 90th birthday of King Ludwig II’s successor, Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria, this 25 pfennig issue features a detailed profile portrait of the aging regent. The date “12 März 1911” appears along the top—marking Luitpold’s birthday—making this one of Bavaria’s most historically meaningful stamps.
Printed by typography in deep violet brown, this issue represents the later years of Bavaria’s independent postal service before full incorporation into the German Empire. This example bears a clear circular date cancel and shows strong color with well-defined detail.
