Description
Bavaria – Scott #45 (1888) is a handsome 50 Pfennig deep rose issue from the Coat of Arms series, part of Bavaria’s definitive line printed under the German Empire while retaining its own postal autonomy. The design prominently displays the Bavarian royal arms, crowned and supported by two heraldic lions, surrounded by finely engraved scrollwork and bold corner numerals. Printed typographically on unwatermarked paper, this issue reflects both continuity and national pride within the unified Reich’s postal network. This example is used, showing a clear circular postmark and rich, even coloration—an excellent representative of late 19th-century Bavarian printing craftsmanship.
