Description
Austria Scott #610 (Mint Never Hinged) was issued to commemorate the country’s membership in the United Nations Organization. The design is a powerful piece of mid-century symbolism: two hands present a carved stone bearing the UN emblem, set before a stepped backdrop inscribed U–N–O, evoking both stability and international cooperation. Printed in a deep brown-violet tone, the engraving emphasizes texture and dimensionality, giving the stamp a monumental, sculptural presence.
This example is MNH with full original gum, featuring strong color, crisp lines, and clean perforations. A standout for collectors of UN-related issues, Cold War–era international themes, or Austrian commemoratives with modernist design elements.
