Description
Austria Scott #581 (Unused, Hinged) was issued in 1952 to commemorate the International Union of Students (IUS) Congress held in Vienna. The design is strikingly modern for its era, featuring a bold vertical “I” beneath a stylized globe, rendered in deep blue-black gradients that create dramatic visual depth. The commemorative text “IUSY Camp Wien 1952” anchors the lower portion, giving the stamp a distinctly mid-century graphic feel.
This example is unused with hinge mark, maintaining strong color, sharp detail, and clean perforations. A noteworthy issue for collectors of Cold War–era international organizations, mid-century design, or Austrian commemoratives of the 1950s.
