Austria Scott #1642 (Used) was issued in 1994 to commemorate the 300th birthday of Baroque painter Daniel Gran (1694–1757), best known for his monumental frescoes in Austrian churches, palaces, and public buildings. The stamp reproduces a portion of one of Gran’s richly detailed allegorical works, rendered in full color with soft, painterly textures and framed by elegant Baroque scrollwork.

This used example shows a light, unobtrusive circular cancellation that leaves the artwork clearly visible. Colors remain bright, and perforations are clean. A fitting piece for collectors interested in European art history, Austrian painters, or modern commemoratives celebrating classical works.
