Austria Scott #1162 (Mint Never Hinged) was issued in 1980 as part of the Europa/CEPT series, honoring composer and conductor Robert Stolz (1880–1975), one of Austria’s most beloved musical figures. The stamp features a finely detailed engraved portrait printed in a warm red-brown tone, accompanied by a facsimile of Stolz’s signature and a brief excerpt of musical notation—an elegant tribute to his prolific output across operetta, film music, and popular song.
