Antigua Scott #85, issued in 1938 as part of the King George VI definitive series, features a finely engraved view of Nelson’s Dockyard, one of the island’s most historic landmarks and a key British naval base during the Age of Sail. The portrait of King George VI appears at upper left, framed by decorative elements typical of the classic colonial style.

Printed in a rich red shade, this stamp is admired for its detailed rendering of the harbor, surrounding hills, and architectural features of the dockyard.

This example is used, with a clear circular postmark that leaves the central vignette visible. The image remains sharp, color strong, and perforations intact. A solid and attractive representative of Antigua’s iconic KGVI engraved issues.
