Description
Andorra (Spanish Administration) Scott #79–80, issued in 1969 for the EUROPA series, celebrate the principality’s cultural and religious heritage through two beautifully photographed sculptures.
The set includes:
-
#79 (2 ptas) – La Verge d’Ordino (The Virgin of Ordino), a revered Romanesque statue associated with the region’s medieval devotional art.
-
#80 (8 ptas) – Creu de les Set Branques (Cross of the Seven Branches), an important Andorran stone cross symbolizing local spiritual traditions and historic craftsmanship.
Printed in rich tones—rose for the Madonna and cool blue for the stone cross—these stamps reflect the EUROPA theme of shared cultural identity within Europe, expressed here through Andorra’s unique heritage.
Both stamps are Mint Never Hinged (MNH) with full original gum, clean perforations, and excellent color. A fine set for collectors of EUROPA issues, Spanish Andorra, religious art, or Pyrenean cultural history.
