The stamps of Selangor come from the most powerful and economically important of the Malay states. Home to Kuala Lumpur and the royal seat of the Sultan of Selangor, the state became the political and commercial heart of British Malaya, and its stamps reflect that prominence with bold, elegant designs.

Selangor issues are especially known for their striking royal portraits, often showing the Sultan in full ceremonial regalia, along with finely engraved state crests, crossed kris daggers, Islamic symbols, and palace architecture.
